MENTOR, Ohio (October 23, 2026) – The Mentor Nissan Trunk or Treat Block Party brought together families, local organizations, and community members for a fun-filled celebration featuring creative trunk decorations, Halloween spirit, and activities for all ages.
The event showcased the creativity and enthusiasm of participating organizations, which transformed their trunks into festive displays for families to enjoy. In addition to the decorated trunk contest, attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorite display, and young participants put their creativity to work in a special coloring contest.
Two organizations took home top honors in the trunk decorating competition. Forbes House was named Best Decorated Trunk with their take on “Wizard of Oz”, while Mentor Public Library earned the Crowd Favorite award through community voting for their “Minecraft” display and interactive station.
Forbes House, a local agency dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence, shared its appreciation for the opportunity to participate and connect with the community.
“Bravo to Mentor Nissan for “driving” community engagement and allowing us to showcase our agency in a fun and creative way. The work that we do is serious to end the cycle of domestic violence but because of our friends at Mentor Nissan, more survivors know that “There’s No Place Like a Safe Home at Forbes House” — Thank you for recognizing our efforts today and every day at the shelter,” said Kathy Strancar, Executive Director of Forbes House.
Three young artists were also recognized as winners of the event’s coloring contest. Winners included Addie of Chardon, in the 4–6 age group; Catlynn of Willoughby, in the 7–9 age group; and Serenity of Ashtabula, in the 10–12 age group. Congratulations to all three winners for their creativity and colorful contributions!
“We are grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s Trunk or Treat Block Party,” said Ray Sminchak. “It was wonderful to see local organizations share their creativity and connect with families throughout our community. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success.”
