Forbes House Attends United Way Luncheon with Guest Speaker Romona Robinson!

Forbes House attended the United Way Annual Meeting and Luncheon yesterday. Donors, volunteers, agencies and organizations came together to fight for Lake County’s most vulnerable residents. Last year, residents in need benefited from 91,971 services due to the support United Way receives.

Romona Robinson was there as well promoting her book “A Dirt Road to Somewhere.” Staff was able to talk with Mrs. Robinson about her struggle to empowerment. Romona Robinson is an eight-time Emmy Award-winning journalist with decades of public speaking experience. She is currently an evening anchor at WOIO in Cleveland, Ohio and broke barriers by becoming Cleveland’s first black female primary anchor and the city’s first female solo evening anchor. Thank you for being so gracious!

*Each year Forbes House supports  families and individuals in Lake County afflicted from domestic violence. Do your part and give where you live!

Forbes House Becomes Application Site for Safe at Home Program

Safe at Home Program

Advocates at Forbes House can help you apply for the Ohio Safe at Home Program. This program allows you to keep your address confidential due to domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, rape or sexual battery. Forbes House advocates are now certified application assistants! Safe at Home is an address confidentiality program that allows victims of domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, rape or sexual battery to apply for an address designated by the Secretary of State to serve as the person’s address to shield their residence address from public records, including voter registration lists.*

How Does the Program Work?

When someone enrolls in Safe at Home, they are assigned a P.O. Box address. There are many entities that may have a person’s name and address on file, and a program participant may request that any governmental or private entity, except for a municipal-owned public utility or the board of elections, use the P.O. Box address designated by the SOS as the participant’s address. The law does not require a private entity to accept the SOS-designated address, but a state of Ohio governmental entity shall accept it.*

How to Get Help

Call 440-357-1018 to learn more about the Ohio Safe at Home program or to schedule an appointment with an advocate.
