Forbes House is a safe haven for anyone seeking an abuse free life. The shelter is secure and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our home features 7 private bedrooms for survivors and their children to recover and heal from the trauma of abuse as work to rebuild their lives.
Forbes House meets the basic need of survivors and their families to restore safety and replace worry with hope for a better tomorrow.
At Forbes House, shelter is just one step on the road to a life free from violence. Through shelter, advocacy, outreach and support; we work to create a path to independence for individuals and families leaving abusive relationships.
Domestic Violence doesn’t discriminate, nor do we. We serve women, men, and children of all ages. For shelter specifically we can accept anyone of legal age and victims that are underage if they are accompanied by a legal guardian.
Forbes House offers a range of services to resolve immediate crises, health concerns, legal issues, and financial problems. These services include shelter, personal and court advocacy, support groups, children’s programs, childcare, as well as support for one’s emotional, vocational, educational, medical and financial needs.
Finances should never be a barrier to an abuse free life therefore all programs and services provided by Forbes House are free of charge. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for survivors to thrive.
Lake County’s ONLY domestic violence shelter is the ideal place for survivors from across Northeast Ohio to heal from the trauma of abuse and rebuild their lives.
